February 27, 2014 — Photo update from my time so far in Guatemala.
I took this picture of the volcano in Antigua during my first morning. So gorgeous!

This is a typical outfit worn in Nebaj. With the güipil on top, the corte (skirt) and the belt (can’t remember the name translation). Not exactly the most flattering outfit. But I wore this on Sunday when the family took me to their church in town. It was an awesome experience. A little loud and crazy but so cool to experience la vida de Nebaj!
As you can see in the previous photo this is supposed to be the pullover top (güipil) for the “traje de Nebaj”, but HOW CUTE is this as a dress!? Apparently altering clothes is very cheap here so you can bet I’ll be coming back with a dress like this 🙂
Nebaj, Guatemala
This is my room at my home stay in Nebaj. The window looks out to the street and on the other side of the closet on the left is the kid’s room, completely separate but the space above the closet is open, it’s just built between the rooms.
